The Second Harvest by Julien Dupré
|
Julien Dupré was a French artist, and is considered by most to be one of the leading exponents of the second generation of Realist painters, a group of artists who devoted their artistic careers to the depiction of the toils of the French peasant-often seen hard at work in the fields. This painting, which depicts a rural scene is a representative work of Dupré and also of rural painting from the 19th century.
About Simón Foundation
The Simón Foundation, created by Juan Antonio Pérez Simón, was founded in the early 1990s, is a non-profit charitable organization. The initial aim of the foundation was to serve communities of Mexico, and to help families or individuals apply for bank loans. Owing to Mr. Simón’s admiration for European culture, strong interest in art collections and powerful economic backing, the Simón Foundation has come to own one of the largest art collections outside Europe. In addition to conservation, study and dissemination of the works in the Collection, the Foundation's aim is to encourage cultural and artistic projects that enrich public taste and awareness of the fine arts.
The Simón Foundation has a wide range of art works. From Icon painting in the Middle Ages of Europe to different modern art schools in 20th century, the foundation owns familiar and impressive pieces from the history of European art, among which its collection of paintings and sculptures from the 19th and 20th centuries is most abundant and wonderful.
