Julian Schnabel and His Art World

Fifty-five-year old Schnabel has remained in the international art main stream since his successful first solo show at the Mary Boone Gallery in New York. Having worked as a taxi driver and a waiter in his youth, his colorful working experience can serve as an example for other artists. Schnabel never sits still to repeat his success and there seems to be no limit to his works.

"He is always searching, always having different ways to express what he feels at the moment. Some of the paintings refer to his friends, like the Paolo Malfi , a friend of his from Italy, who died in 1995. He had a strong emotion for his friend who passed away, so he created this very powerful and beautiful painting", said Howard.

Schnabel never seems to stop his attempts in the art circle as he moves in different directions, trying to pushing boundaries and forever changing in style. He just recently won the best director award at the 60th International Cannes Film Festival for his French movie "Diving Bell And Butterfly."
