Cultural Agreement Between the Government of the Central African Republic and the Government of the People's Republic of China

 

The Government of the Central African Republic and the Government of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as "the Contracting Parties"), desirous of strengthening friendly relations and mutual understanding, and promoting exchanges between their two countries in the sphere of culture, art, education, the cinema, newscast, medicine and public health and juvenile sports on the basis of respecting each other's sovereignty, no interfering in the other Party's interior affairs, equality and mutual benefit, have decided to conclude the present Agreement, the provisions of which are as follows:

Article 1

The Contracting Parties shall encourage and support reciprocal visits and performances of cultural elites, artists and art troupes, promote the exchange of film shows, art works and pictorial exhibitions, and exchange materials and publications on literature, art, philosophy and history.

Article 2

The Contracting Parties shall exchange friendly visits and professional study as well as experiences of educational delegation, teachers and experts, and accept the other Party's students in accordance with their respective teaching system and provisions.

Article 3

The Contracting Parties shall encourage and support cooperation between newscast institutions and organizations, and exchange of visits and materials of recordings, telefilms, slides and discs.

Article 4

The Contracting Parties shall encourage and support reciprocal visits and exchange of experiences and achievements in the fields of medicine and public health, and the exchange of publications on medicine and public health according to their respective conditions.

Article 5

The Contracting Parties shall encourage and support cooperation between sports organizations of the two countries including the exchange of sports teams for friendly visits and competitions, and encourage and support the friendly relations between the juveniles of the two countries.

Article 6

This Agreement shall enter into force on the date when the Contracting Parties begin implementing their respective legal procedures and inform each other of it. This Agreement is amendable at the approval of both Parties.

This Agreement shall remain valid for a period of five (5) years. Thereafter it shall be automatically renewed for successive periods of five (5) years unless either Contracting Party requests its termination by written notice to the other served at least six (6) months prior to the date of expiration.

Done in Bangui on June 4th, 1980. In duplicate in Chinese and French languages, both texts being equally authentic.
